Darton State wins big over Albany Tech, 73-37
Darton State made a short trip over to HPER Gymnasium on Monday to face Albany Tech, and the Cavs won the JUCO matchup, 73-37.
Darton immediately jumped out to an 18-4 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.
Tyeshia Smith and Abrelyn Rackley led the way for the Cavs with 16 and 15 points, respectively. Smith also had a game-high 12 rebounds and three blocks.
Albany Tech struggled to get anything to drop, as they shot a little under 17-percent from the field. Tyesha Davis had a team-high 13 points. The Titans had only six players play in Monday night's matchup.
The Cavs have now won three straight and will face South Georgia Tech on the road on Wednesday.
"The freshmen have matured, and our upperclassmen have become better leaders," Darton State head coach Lea Henry said. "And I think that we are starting to gel a little bit, but we've got a big one Wednesday night, playing a great team up the road in Americus, and it's always a good game."
