The ABAC baseball team took on St. Johns River in a doubleheader on Sunday, and the Stallions split with a loss in Game 1, 6-5, and a win in Game 2, 3-2.

The Stallions gave up four runs in the top half of the first inning, but responded quickly to make it a 6-3 game.

In the bottom of the second, Blake Jackson smacked a grounder between the third baseman and the shortstop to score Brian Davis from third to make it a 6-4 game.

ABAC once again threatened in the bottom of the fourth with runners on first and second, but Nick Higginbotham grounded into a 5-3 double play to end the inning. That proved to be a huge double play for St. Johns River, as they only gave up one run the rest of the game.

Despite the loss, ABAC head coach Brandon Reeder was pleased with his team's fight to come back from four in the first.

"We're a resilient bunch. You know, when there's innings left to play and we've still got opportunities to hit, you know, we don't get down on ourselves," Reeder said. "You saw there at the end, we s till had runners on. We had opportunities. We just couldn't come through with a big hit like we did earlier in the innings.
