Worth County kids shop with police officers for Christmas
SYLVESTER, Ga. —
Kids in Worth County have plenty of toys underneath their Christmas trees.
Worth County had their own spin with “Shop with a Cop” and named it “Kids Shop with Public Safety.”
All of the kids left with smiles and bags filled with Christmas presents.
Worth County brought all agencies together including all police, fire and rescue, and EMS departments, and the Worth County Sheriff's Office for Tuesday’s shopping spree.
These departments raised money for kids to be able to shop til’ they drop at Walmart.
Two Worth County families with a total of eight kids, that needed help for the holidays, were chosen by the police department
Officers say this was a time for kids to see them in a different light, and get to know them on a more personal level.
“It was a wonderful experience,” Kaitlyn Lawson, Sylvester Police Department, said “I love being able to come out here and help get these kids something for Christmas.”
This is the second year Worth County has done it, and they plan on doing it bigger and better next year.
