ALBANY, Ga. (WFXL) -- After weeks of collecting debris from Hurricane Michael, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has given that debris a new home.
It was shredded and turned into mulch.
On Friday, the Corps unloaded that mulch at Chehaw Park.
Dave Palmer, with the Corps, shares why Chehaw was selected to be the final resting place for the mulch.
"For us, we were fortunate to find a spot that had not only been a final disposition spot before, but it's also a public park and an opportunity to help the community," said Palmer.
Chehaw will use the mulch for various projects including beautification projects and compost.
