Weather, debris cause new sewage spill in Albany
Albany public works and Jacobs employees are set to start repairs on a pump that led to more sewage water being released near the Flint River over the weekend.
Company officials say that one of the four pumps at Lift Station 25 developed problems due to a blockage and increased storm water due to rainfall.
The plan for Monday is for employees to check the pumps' capacity and clean out the pump-intake area known as the wet well. They will then attempt to clear the blockage from the affected pump and make needed repairs while the pump is disassembled.
It is not known how much sewage water was spilled as a result of the issues.
