Three men have been arrested for allegedly staging slip-and-fall accidents around Southwest Georgia.
Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens say that arrest warrants were taken out against 20-year-old Germain Baynard, 21-year-old Ryan Law and 22-year-old Demetrius Lee.
Officials with Hudgen's office and the National Insurance Crime Bureau are still seeking a fourth person, 46-year-old Keronda Bell.
Investigators say that the men allegedly staged slip-and-fall accidents at various businesses in Brooks, Colquitt and Thomas counties. The investigation revealed that Bell was the ringleader, planning the slip-and-falls and filing the fraudulent claims.
"My office will investigate all forms of insurance fraud," said Commissioner Hudgens. "Individuals who feel that they are above the law and file a false insurance claim will be arrested and prosecuted."
Bell is facing charges of theft by deception, theft of services, two counts of identity fraud, forgery in the third degree and insurance fraud in Colquitt County, criminal attempt of theft by deception and theft by deception in Thomas County and a charge of theft by deception in Brooks County.
Law is facing one count of insurance fraud in Colquitt County, Lee is facing criminal attempt theft by deception in Thomas County and theft by deception in Brooks County. Baynard is facing one count of theft by deception in Thomas County.
