Three arrested in Tift County on drug charges
A two month investigation by the Tift County Sheriff’s Office, Mid-South Narcotics Task Force and Georgia Bureau of Investigation has led to the arrest of three Tift County residents.
Investigators say they were targetting a narcotics trafficking group and were able to target local individuals.
This led to search warrants being served on August 10 & 11 in which officers recovered multiple search warrants being served in Tift County and the seizure of approximately 23 grams of methamphetamine, 1 gram of heroin, 120 hydrocodone tablets, 46 oxycodone tablets, 12 lorazapam tablets, Fentanyl patches, $1,500 in cash and two handguns.
Those arrested include:
- 33 year-old David Rigdon is charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl and use of a communication device to facilitate a drug deal.
- 42 year-old John Howard of is charged with possession of Methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, possession of a schedule II drug with intent to distribute and conspiracy to distribute cocaine.
- 35 year-old Michelle Newell is charged with possession of dangerous drugs, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of tools for commission of a crime.
Sheriff Gene Scarbrough states that the investigation is ongoing and additional charges and arrest are anticipated as law enforcement agencies continue to work together in trying to rid the community of drug distributors.
