One Westover High School student received a high honor on Thursday.
The Albany Chamber of Commerce held its 61st annual STAR Banquet where they honored students from local schools.
Each student got a trophy for having the highest SAT score and for being in the top 10 percent of their class.
Denzel Cunningham from WHS took home the grand prize.
Dougherty County School System Superintendent Ken Dyer said this is a great event.
"This is one of my favorite events of the year," said Dyer. " We get to highlight and celebrate the accomplishments of some of our best and brightest students, as well as the teachers who have helped mold these students, these students have worked tirelessly throughout their academic career, particularly in high school."
The students also recognized their STAR teachers who they say have lead them to excellence.
