Shots fired at APD officers responding to burglary call

Albany police are searching for a suspect after shots were fired at Albany police responding to a burglary call Monday night.

Officers were responding just before 11 p.m. to the call in the 600 block of Willard Avenue when they encountered the suspect.

Officers pursued that suspect, but were shot at multiple times.

On Tuesday morning, police served search warrants to a home on West Whitney Avenue and found the shotgun and the dark green, Honda Accord they say was used in the incident.

The suspect, later identified as 41-year-old Dexter Seigler, was taken into custody and is facing 15 counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, criminal damage to property in the second degree and attempting to elude/flee from officers.

No officers were injured in the pursuit.
