Severe storms forecast for Sunday
An approaching weather system will make for a soggy and stormy Sunday, however, the threat for severe weather is low right now.
A cold front will move through the region on Sunday evening. Rain chances will begin increasing Saturday night ahead of the front. The best chance for rain and thunder will be Sunday afternoon and evening as the front approaches. There is a marginal threat for severe weather on Sunday. There are some model discrepancies on timing and instability.
Based on data we've analyzed Friday, all of South Georgia will be at risk for storms Sunday. Along, and south of Highway 82 is most at risk for severe weather. The biggest concerns would be damaging wind and brief tornadoes. Large hail and frequent lightning are not top concerns, but can't be ruled out.
