The Albany Police Department confirmed that 55-year-old Glenn Osborne Kelley, originally identified by the Dougherty County coroner as Glenn Kelly, Sr., was fatally struck by a USPS truck on East Broad Avenue sometime before 7 p.m. Thursday.

Albany Police tweeted that the man was traveling in a wheelchair before being hit by the mail truck.

APD says the traffic unit was called to investigate the scene.

Further investigation by APD's traffic unit revealed that Kelley was traveling eastbound on East Broad Avenue in the westbound lane on his Elite SS Motorized Wheelchair.

Police say the USPS truck, driven by a 50-year-old man, was traveling westbound, and collided with the motorized wheelchair head-on.

The mail carrier, who showed no signs of impairment, told police he didn't see the wheelchair until the crash occurred.

APD says no charges will be filed against the USPS driver.
