Peanut festival has impact on local community
The 54th Annual Georgia Peanut Festival had a large impact on Sylvester and Worth County.
The festival had over 10,000 attendees.
According to the Chair of the Georgia Peanut Festival Committee, Wendy Kennedy, the festival was an opportunity for the city and county to showcase their farmers.
While it is difficult to calculate the direct economic impact of the festival, the impact the festival had on local businesses was apparent.
Kennedy said, “The businesses within town were able to capitalize on the extra traffic. The restaurants, the places to shop etc. all see the economic impact of the weekend as well.”
Planning is already underway for next year’s festival.
