OSHA investigating after man dies picking tomatoes in Colquitt County
A 24-year-old man that had been in the United States for less than a week has died and OSHA is now investigating.
Officials with the Colquitt County Coroner's Office say that 24-year-old Miguel Angel-Guzman Chavez died Thursday as the result of hyperthermia.
Chavez was picking tomatoes when he collapsed. He was taken to the hospital for treatment, but did not survive.
Chavez's family has been contacted and working to return him to Mexico.
Weather conditions on that date had the air temperature at 93 degrees with a humidity level of 94%.
