New Albany Fire Chief takes Oath of Office Tuesday
On Tuesday, in front of a large crowd, the Albany Fire Department held their Oath of Office Ceremony for new Fire Chief Cedric Scott.
Scott was announced to head the department back in April after Chief Ron Rowe's retirement in January.
The new chief says he's looking forward to meeting the members of the department, visiting the different fire stations, the 911 call center and meeting the emergency management team.
Scott adds, he is looking forward to serving the Good Life City and making a difference.
"I'm humble by the selection, being selected Fire Chief of the city of Albany is a great honor for me. The 30 years I've had in the fire service and to ascend to this position, it is a great honor," said Scott.
Scott began his firefighting career with Macon - Bibb County back in 1987.
Since then, he has served as the Fire Chief for the city of Suffolk, Virginia and has also been the chief in Waycross, College Park and Rockdale County.
