Moultrie-Colquitt County Humane Society receives donation Thursday
The Moultrie-Colquitt County Humane Society received some new equipment Thursday morning thanks to Moultrie city employees and the police department.
The humane society was presented with a '05 Ford Explorer vehicle for transportation and two large fans to keep animals cool in the summer heat.
According to City Manager Pete Dillard, the humane society's newest vehicle is a surplus vehicle from the Moultrie Police Department.
Dillard says the animal shelter greatly needed a new vehicle so, instead of selling the car, they donated it to the humane society.
"Routinely city employees donate things, take things, help, anything we can do to further the humane society," said Dillard.
Moultrie city employees raised the funds to purchase two large fans for animals to use during the August heat.
Director Dawn Blanton says the new vehicle should hold up to ten animals once kennels are installed.
