Middle school 'purples up' to show support for military kids
Worth County Middle School decided to "purple up" on Friday to recognize the children of military members.
Some students and teachers wore special purple t-shirts in honor of Month of the Military Child.
They recognized their 15 students who have parents in the armed forces.
Each of those students also received a certificate and gift card to Dairy Queen to thank them.
Eighth grader Ta'Layshia Vicks said she's never received this kind of thanks from another school.
"It means a lot," she said. "It's like that they care because military children do go through a lot, like having their parents deployed for months at a time, so it's nice to be supported."
Worth County Middle School said they also like to take this day to recognized several veterans on their staff as well.
