One local church is making sure no one goes hungry this holiday season.

For the 16th year, Mount Zion Baptist Church celebrated their Christmas Community Lunch for those in need of a warm meal.

Residents were able to enjoy a five course meal with turkey, dressing and all of the trimmings.

Each individual was also given a Christmas bag full of goodies just in time for the holidays.

Event organizer Alfredia Hampton says giving to the community like this really helps the church get in the holiday spirit.

"This is the season for giving, especially this time of the year. Every child wants something for Christmas and we want to make sure that they have something," said Hampton.

Hampton's goal was to serve over 1,000 people Thursday afternoon.

She says the Culinary Committee has been cooking for days now in preparation for Thursday's feast.
