The Lions Club International gave $5,000 worth of meal vouchers to the Dougherty County School System.

The vouchers will be distributed to families that were impacted by severe weather in January 2017.

The school system said there are children that are still displaced due to the storms.

Jim Irving, a past international Lions Club President, partnered with BJ Fletcher to get the meal vouchers.

The voucher is for one meal at BJ's Country Buffet.

The President of the local Lions Club chapter shared her reason for starting this initiative.

Conni Houesman stated, " After the devastation when I saw all that the tornadoes had done and the loss of life. It just really bothered me and I wanted to do something to help the community."

Houseman also stated the Lions Club will have another project to give back to people that were impacted by the storms.
