The Leesburg City Council had a special called meeting Thursday evening, and they all voted to send a resolution in support of the Lee County hospital to the Department of Community Health.

This comes after multiple oppositions from parties including Dougherty County Commissioners, The Georgia Alliance of Community Health and Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

City council members said the community deserves to have this hospital in Lee County.

“I think with anybody, wherever you live in Southwest Georgia, there’s no reason that you should ever be opposed to a state of the art hospital coming in here,” Commissioner Bobby F. Wilson said.

According to City Manager Bob Alexander, the letter should be sent out tomorrow.
