The Lee County Sheriff's Office is helping one of their own brothers in blue at a benefit car wash this weekend.
On Saturday, deputies and personnel from the sheriff's office will be washing cars in honor of SFC Christopher Harnage.
According to Deputy Bryan Bruner with the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Sergeant Harnage began facing major medical complications about two years ago.
About a month ago, Sergeant Harnage fell ill with major, life threatening issues.
Deputy Bruner says Harnage is currently getting treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville.
Bruner decided to do something to help the family with the medical expenses and came up with the benefit car wash.
He says it's all about giving back to Sergeant Harnage who has been with the sheriff's office for over ten years.
We're a family here and we're supposed to help family and a car wash is just an idea that came to my mind and it's also a good way to get to know the community and have the community come out," said Bruner.
According to Bruner, the sheriff's office is trying to collect as much money as possible.
All proceeds raised will go directly to the Harnage family.
Bruner says there will be over 15 deputies washing cars on Saturday.
The car wash will begin at 9 a.m. at the prior Harvey's parking lot in Lee County on US highway 19 south.
