Lee County High School students will only be allowed to wear clear backpacks.

The new school policy will begin in the 2018-2019 school year.

The school has 1,400 kids. Principal Karen Hancock says they can't help but think that weapons could be hidden in backpacks.

She adds considering recent mass school shootings, they're just taking necessary steps to keep students and faculty safe.

The school won't be taking away purses or lunch boxes. Students can also rent a locker for the year.
