Granddaughter arrested for Valdosta Grandmother's death
The granddaughter of an 86-year-old Valdosta woman that died in March 2017 has been arrested and charged with malice murder.
Valdosta police say that 86-year-old Carmen Colorado was transported to South Georgia Medical Center after going into cardiac arrest after family say she fell.
Despite treatment, Colorado did not survive.
Lowndes County Coroner Austin Fiveash contacted VPD after receiving information that Colorado's death was suspicious.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation then did an autopsy based on that information and ruled Colorado's death a homicide.
Detectives began investigating which led detectives to Pennsylvania and Texas.
After a grand jury hearing, 41-year-old Amy Jeannette Auve was indicted and detectives went to Frisco, Texas to arrest her.
Avenue is in Texas awaiting extradition.
