Governor Deal suspends Worth County Sheriff
Georgia Governor Nathan Deal announced Monday his decision to suspend Worth County Sheriff Jeff Hobby after a report from a specially appointed commission.
Deal created the commission on October 31 to determine whether the indictment of Hobby "adversely impacted the administration of Sheriff's Office".
The commission, comprised of Georgia Attorney General Christopher Carr, Gordon County Sheriff Mitch Ralston and Peach County Sheriff Terry Deese, returned a report to Deal on November 9.
The suspension goes into effect immediately and lasts until the final disposition of the case or until the expiration of his office term, which ever comes first.
