GA Chamber opens regional office in Tifton
A new office open in Tifton that leaders say will help economic development in the area and rural parts of Georgia.
Monday afternoon was the grand opening of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce's very first regional office.
This new office is located at 1001 Love Avenue in Tifton, which leaders say they chose due to its location.
Leaders are calling it the "Center for Rural Prosperity" as they say so many opportunities will come from this new presence.
Georgia Chamber of Commerce President Chris Clark said calls from other states are already coming in noting the commitment the chamber is making to rural areas.
The chamber will work to do research that’s applicable to businesses in this area and host events to help strengthen leadership and develop better economic growth strategies.
Clark also says that the success of this office could spark more regional offices in the future.
"One good project has multiplier effects all through this region. Saving one plant here is going to have an impact in the counties next door so we want this to be a catalyst to develop that relationship and that conversation,” said Clark.
Clark also said a summit for rural prosperity is already slated to happen in November at the chamber.
It will serve to talk about best practices for business in this area and Clark said it will be an annual event.
