While First Lady Sandra Deal was in southwest Georgia on Wednesday, she stopped by Stringfellow Elementary School.

She read "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" to a group of children to celebrate Pre-K week.

The week celebrates the 25th anniversary of Georgia's Pre-K program.

Former Georgia Governor Zell Miller launched the lottery funded Pre-K program in 1992.

The goal was to highlight the importance of early childhood education.
