First New Year's day baby in Albany makes her grand appearance
ALBANY, Ga. —
Millions of people celebrated the New Year on Sunday night going into Monday morning.
One family in Albany has bragging rights, and can celebrate something else, the birth of their baby girl.
Cielo Faye Chavez was the first baby born in 2018 here in Albany. After 12 hours of labor, she was born at 12:51 a.m.
Cielo was supposed to make her grand appearance late last month, but she had a different plan in mind.
"It did not even cross my mind,” Heather Prater, mom, said. “I was hoping that she would actually come before my due date, but we have a very stubborn little girl. She said nope."
Cielo Faye was named after her grandmother that died last year.
