Fallen troopers honored across the state

Georgia State Troopers held a dedication ceremony this morning for fallen trooper Harvey Lewis Nicholson.

They dedicated a part of highway 234 to Nicholson who was killed in a car accident in that area. Nicholson along with three others were traveling back to their post from training in Americus in 1961 when they were hit head on by another vehicle; all three troopers lost their lives.

Nicholson's family traveled from Florida and other parts of Georgia to attend the ceremony and honor their relative. Nicholson's nephew described him as the kind, quiet type and said he was very proud of his job.

Georgia State Patrol Post's around the state are making an effort to honor the lives of all those who lost their lives doing their job, no matter how long ago it was.

There will be another service tonight in Pelham to honor the life of Special Agent Welton Harrell.
