The Southwest Regional Fair brings a lot of money to the area every year.

Skip Nichols, the fair manager, said this year the fair had record breaking opening night.

The Exchange Club estimates 55,000 to 65,000 people attended over the five nights it was in town.

In years past the economic impact of the fair has been large.

Nichols said, "The Exchange Club Fair has usually been in the top three for economic impact in Dougherty County."

He also stated, "I would say after this year we may be moving up to generating about two somewhere between three, four or maybe even $5 million.”

All the profit the Exchange Club gets from the fair goes to maintaining the fairgrounds and towards community projects to stop child abuse.
