Dougherty County Jail inmates get GED
Two inmates at the Dougherty County Jail have something they've always wanted: their GED.
James Wood and Demetris Tolson were smiling from ear to ear when they received their certificate.
Their loved ones and friends came together to be a part of this special moment.
Sheriff Kevin Sproul says many inmates don't finish the program because they leave before completing it.
"It's a great feeling,” Tolson said. “I've been working for so long, and I’m happy I have it."
Tolson hopes to put his certificate to use by joining the military.
Wood wants to get a job and join the union after he's released.
"I feel like I have a sense of a pride and accomplishment,” Wood said. “It's something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time."
