Earlier this month, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp recommended in his proposed budget that each Georgia teacher got a $3,000 dollar pay raise.

If the budget is approved, the raises will put more money into the pay checks of almost 200,000 educators.

DCSS Director of Community Relations LaKisha Bryant Bruce says the school system will continue to monitor the General Assembly's decision.

She says the district is also working on some new incentive packages for select teachers.

"We want everyone to be excited about coming to our schools, so we are working on new incentive packages to attract the best and brightest for our students," said Bruce.

The school district has a career fair coming up in March.
