Citizen tip leads to burglary arrest in Valdosta
A citizen tip has led to the arrest of a man alleged to have busted into a car and shed in Valdosta.
Valdosta police say that the citizen called in just after 1 a.m. on December 15 alerting them to a man in all black walking on private property between residences carrying a bag that appeared to be looking into vehicles.
Officers responded and were able to find the man on Floyd Street, who began running from officers. While running, the man dropped a bag which contained items believed to have been stolen.
After bringing out a K-9 unit, he was found under a shed on JL Lomax Drive.
The man was identified as 36-year-old Lorenzo Robinson, who faces charges of burglary, theft by entering auto and obstruction of an officer.
“This is a perfect example of community policing. The community was the eyes and ears for the police department and the officers in this case did a complete job, locating the suspect, recovering stolen property, and solving two felony cases,” said Chief Brian Childress.
