Community leaders and restaurant officials gathered in prayer Monday morning to break ground on a brand new restaurant in the Good Life City.

A 5,000 square foot Chick-fil-A will soon stand on Dawson Road where the old Sears Auto Center was located.

Back in March, the city of Albany commissioners approved the restaurant's zoning application.

According to Human Resources Director Anna Wari, the new facility will be a full service restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating and an indoor playground.

The new Chick-fil-A will be less than a mile away from two other Chick-fil-A locations in the Good Life City.

Although Wari says the new location has been a long time coming.

"It took probably a good six to eight years to find this spot. We've been in the process of trying to find just the right piece of property and looked at many, many sites through out town," said Wari.

According to Wari, the newest location will include more parking and a larger building.

Construction will begin immediately.

Wari says the new restaurant is set to be open by November.
