Can watching tornado coverage affect your mood?

As with any natural disaster, coverage of the tornadoes that ripped through Oklahoma have been playing almost 24/7 on every major news channel.

But can constantly watching TV coverage of stressful events like this have a negative effect on a person's emotional state?

Andy Martin, a counselor with Insight counseling, says yes. Martin says watching stressful things on TV can in turn, stress a person out. Martin says he suggests instead of just constantly watching coverage of the disaster, get out and be active in the recovery or find a way you can help.
