Albany kids now have a fresh new spot to practice their hoops.

The Boys and Girls Club on North Jefferson Street unveiled its newly renovation gym on Tuesday, which comes from a $50,000 donation from Lowe's “Renovation Across the Nation” program.

That program gives a grant to one Boys and Girls Club in each state per year.

The Albany club combined that with several other donations, including a $25,000 donation from Sabal Trail, to complete the entire project, which also includes a multipurpose room, in just two weeks. Now the gym has a new floor, more efficient lights and a scoreboard.

“People really put in sweat equity to make this a reality for our young people, so it was exciting to see them being excited about coming in and seeing their new gym,” said Boys and Girls Clubs of Albany CEO Marvin Laster.
