FITZGERALD, Ga. (WFXL) — The Ben Hill County Sheriff's Office installed a new weather stem unit on top of their facility, which helps them warn the public of dangerous weather.
Installation of the unit cost about $5,600 and it has two live camera feeds on it.
Public safety officials say it was worth the cost.
"They completed instillation after about six hours, we have live, real time weather monitoring capabilities in our 911 dispatch center, which enhances our emergency services response," said Brandon Fletcher, public safety director.
Residents of Ben Hill County can access the weather cameras and updates on the Ben Hill County emergency management Facebook or Twitter pages.
