Ashburn city manager passes away after minor surgery complications
The Ashburn community is mourning the loss of their city manager.
Sedric Carithers, 44, passed away on Saturday.
Representatives with city hall say he died from complications after going through a minor surgery involving a hernia.
He was the first black city manager in Ashburn, and started the position in 2016.
The City describes him as a true and caring leader.
“He always tried to engage the community, bring everything together and collaborate on ideas on how he can make things better," Tanita Norris, City of Ashburn HR director, said.
His funeral will be this Thursday at St. Luke Baptist Church in Ashburn at 11 a.m.
