Albany Police Department held its first 'Coffee With a Cop' event of the year, Friday morning.

The event was held at Eggs Up Grill on Old Dawson Road.

Residents got a chance to enjoy coffee and a conversation.

One woman said she didn’t have any concerns for APD. She instead wanted to learn more about what police officers deal with on a day-to-day basis.

She also said she grew up being afraid of law enforcement. She asked the officers how she can raise her children not to have that same fear.

APD said they understand other people have concerns just like the woman.

They say that’s why it’s so important to have events like these.

Phyllis Banks, the APD Public Information Officer, stated,"It gives the officers that one on one, to speak with the citizens of Albany, to listen to what their concerns are and take that information back."
