Three people have been arrested by the Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit in connection to illegal prescription drug sales.

Investigators say that on March 19, agents were conducting an operation in the area of S. Gaskin Avenue and E. Cherry Street in Douglas.

During that time, agents say they saw 60-year-old John H. Merritt Jr. and 62-year-old Walter Gene Outler enter the area and exchange money and suspected controlled prescription medications with 62-year-old Bertha Mae Reynolds.

Merritt and Outler were detained afterwards and found to be in possession of Hydrocodone. Both were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with Outler found to be wanted on a probation warrant.

A traffic stop was completed on Reynolds and officers detected the odor of marijuana, to which Reynolds admitted to smoking according to officers along with selling prescription drugs to the other men.

Reynolds was arrested and faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
