Kailey McCarthy is the newest reporter to join the FOX 31 News Team. Kailey is excited to join the team and looks forward to meeting the people of southwest Georgia.
A true southerner, Kailey has spent most of her life residing in Alabama. She spent the last four years in Tuscaloosa at the University of Alabama. Kailey graduated through the Honors College at UA with majors in both Broadcast Journalism and Political Science. At UA, Kailey spent three years working at WVUA 23 News, a local station covering the Tuscaloosa area. While reporting for WVUA, Kailey enjoyed covering former Governor Robert Bentley, talking to UA Political Science Professors about the 2016 Presidential Election as well as covering local City Council meetings. Kailey was also actively involved in the Student Government Association as a student at Alabama.
Kailey has a true passion for storytelling and keeping local residents informed about their community. Her passion for broadcast has kept her in many different newsrooms, first as an intern at WPMI, Local 15 News in Mobile and then, as an intern at ABC 33/40 News in Birmingham.
While not reporting, Kailey enjoys spending time with her family, friends and enjoys cuddling with her mini dachshund, Miley. Kailey loves to try out new recipes, binge watch Netflix and, of course, cheer on her Crimson Tide at the beautiful Bryant-Denny Stadium!
