Westover basketball teams ready for Saturday

Westover's basketball programs are used to a certain degree of success.

The boys' team made it all the way to Georgia's final eight last season before being bounced. They return seven seniors and coach Dallis Smith expects to have a deep and talented roster.

"If we play up to our potential, we have a good chance of trying to be in the mix of things," said Smith.

The Lady Patriots missed the playoffs last season for the first time in years. Experienced head coach Lewis Smith is trying to get back to the identity of the program- defense. They don't plan on missing out on the postseason again in 2013-2014.

"We had a great summer," Smith said. "We're hungry for this season."

Both teams open their seasons on Saturday night against Albany High School at Darton State.
