High school basketball continued to roll along in Southwest Georgia on Tuesday night.
Westover hosted a 6-A opponent and one of the best hoops programs around, the Tift County Blue Devils. The boys' team jumped out to a comfortable lead in the first half and cruised past the Patriots, 65-50. The girls' game was a different story, with the Lady Patriots topping Tift County, 41-33.
Elsewhere in 4-A Region 1, Monroe had a successful night at home against Cairo. The boys held on to top the Syrupmakers, 55-48. The girls continued their region dominance by blowing out the Lady Syrupmakers.
Dougherty struggled at home against Americus-Sumter. Both games were close, but the Panthers won the boys' game, 77-63, and the girls' game, 40-30.
Albany High School went on the road to Cordele, but the Indians were swept by Tift County.
In 5-A, Lee County's boys traveled to Thomasville and came out with a 57-49 victory.
In the G.I.S.A., Deerfield-Windsor was at home against Tattnall Square. The boys' teams squared off in a classic, with Deerfield winning 85-78 in two overtimes. Tattnall's girls beat Deerfield's girls, 46-40.
