One sport is off and running throughout the state of Georgia this week.
Official practice for track and field began on January 20th for all GHSA schools.
"Just the basics," said Westover senior Scott Sanders, when asked what the Patriots are working on this week. "Getting everybody back in the swing of things, basically."
For newcomers to the sport, the first practices are a time to learn proper form and breathing techniques. For veterans, it's all about building up endurance and perfecting the craft.
According to the GHSA, the earliest date for track meets is February 10th. Until then, track and field athletes are focused on the grind of practice.
"Right now we're trying to get in to the system of things," said Westover senior Tyler Sheffel. "Get our form down, kind of get in the routine from practice."
