Westover defensive lineman Trent Thompson announced his college choice on Tuesday. He'll be attending the University of Georgia next fall.
Thompson is one of the top high school football recruits in the country. He chose Georgia over Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, and Southern Cal, among others.
"I just want to stay home because it's close," Thompson said.
He's excited to play for the Bulldogs' new defensive staff under coordinator Jeremy Pruitt. Defensive line coach Tracy Rocker played a big part in his recruitment.
"The defensive scheme that Coach Pruitt plays, it fits perfectly for what Trent can do," said Westover head coach Octavia Jones.
The incoming senior was one of the keys to Westover's first region championship in 2013. They open their 2014 season on August 23rd on ESPNU against Lee County.
