Tiftarea baseball uses last year as motivation
Last season, Tattnall Square beat Tiftarea Academy in Game 3 of the state semifinals in 14 innings. This season, Tiftarea has a chance at revenge.
The G.I.S.A. best-of-three state championship will begin at 4:30 on Friday in Chula. The Panthers swept Stratford last weekend, and then drove to Macon to scout Tattnall Square as they defeated Southland Academy.
The Trojans are the defending champions.
"We want it. Because of how close we were last year and we feel like we can beat them," said Tiftarea senior Greer Howard. "This is what we've been working for all year."
The Panthers have been at home since the first round, and they're hoping the home field advantage continues.
"We get to play in front of our fans and our students," Howard said. "It should be fun."
