Tift County's running to a state championship
Fri, 07 Mar 2014 04:20:16 GMT —
Tift County is one win away from winning their first boys' basketball state championship since 1996.
Coach Eric Holland's team has elevated their level of play in the playoffs, with wins over Tri-Cities, Lovejoy, Hillgrove, and Norcross. Georgia Tech commit Tadric Jackson had 39 points in the semifinal win.
Holland attributes the improved level of play to strong defense. The Blue Devils have been able to avoid major lapses and kept the transition game moving.
That transition game will be a big key on Saturday night against Wheeler.
"Who's the best team in transition defensively, and who can score the most points in transition offensively," Holland said about Saturday's contest. "Those are two keys to victory on Saturday."
Tip-off time is set for 8:45 on Saturday night at the Macon Centreplex.
