On Monday afternoon the Tift County Lady Devils celebrated a bittersweet moment when their four year starter Staceyanna Murrell signed to play basketball for Tuskegee University. On the one hand she will be playing college basketball and earning an education, on the other the Lady Blue Devils lose the dominate force in the paint.
Murrell said, "I am excited about the opportunity and I really enjoy the atmosphere of the program."
Murrell played center for Tift County, while earning all regional honors and helping her team win two regional titles. The region titles were just the tip of the iceberg after reaching the state playoffs all four years she played. Not only was she recognized for her outstanding play on the court, but also in the classroom by earning an all-academic scholarship before signing to play basketball.
