It was a difficult start in Tift County for Head Coach John Reid last season.
The Blue Devils went 2-8 in one of the toughest regions in the state, 6A-1. Heading into his second year with the program, there's much more optimism.
Their starting quarterback, Ryan Wedgeworth, is a returning starter and has worked hard to improve during the offseason. The combination of turnover on the coaching staff and an 0-6 region record made training easy.
"Our workout program was really good," Wedgeworth said. "We brought all these coaches in and they added a lot of fuel on the fire."
Several of the new assistants have coaching experience at the college level. Still, it will be tough to turn in a winning season in a region with powerhouses like Camden County and Colquitt County.
"You take it one down at a time," Reid said. "See if you can put some games together back to back. I think that'd be good for this program."
