Darton State golf left the Rawls Course in Lubbock, Texas feeling unsatisfied after Tuesday's NJCAA National Championship first round.
Picking up the sticks to try again Wednesday, the Cavaliers and head coach Bill Jones III can't find much better to say after the second.
Darton State sits in a tie for eighth place trailing leader Midland College by 20 strokes with two rounds remaining. The Cavaliers shot +7 on Wednesday for an overall stroke total of 595 with Taylor Martin keeping DC in contention.
"We put ourselves behind the eight ball behind by 20 strokes. That's a lot to make up," Jones said.
Martin rebounded from a +5 opening round to shoot -2 on Wednesday. Nick Green finished second on the team with a +2 second round.
Darton State resumes the national tournament Thursday at noon. You can follow Darton State's third round progress here.
