      Rountree digs in as new volleyball coach

      Andrew College Athletic Director Dr. Edith Smith announced the hiring of Mrs. Donna Rountree as the new head coach of the Andrew College Women's Volleyball program.

      Andrew College Athletic Director Dr. Edith Smith announced the hiring of Mrs. Donna Rountree as the new head coach of the Andrew College Women's Volleyball program. Rountree comes to Andrew with over 20 years of experience in coaching, teaching, and entrepreneurialism. She earned her bachelor's degree in education with an emphasis in recreation from Georgia Southwestern State University.

      Most recently she was the director at Jackson Heights Fitness and Wellness Center for the City of Albany, Georgia. Prior to her time there, Rountree was the Director of Sports and Physical Education for the Albany Area YMCA. She has also served as a physical education teacher and coach for Savannah Christian Preparatory School and Calvary Day School, as well as a health teacher, coach, and Athletic Director at St. Andrew's School, all of which are in Savannah, Georgia.

      Rountree was also instrumental in creating youth softball and volleyball leagues in the Savannah area. Some organizations she helped establish include Roadrunners Softball, Club Savannah Junior Olympic Volleyball, and Rountree Camp Volleyball. All were set up and managed by Rountree, setting the tone for her successful coaching career.

      Her son, Andy Rountree, daughter-in-law Carrie, and one-year-old grandson Cason live in Savannah. Her daughter, Bess Rountree, is a NICU Nurse at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
