Over the weekend or more specifically, March 22, 2014 marks a new day in history for the city of Albany; Ricardo Lockette day. The home town hero Ricardo Lockette was recognized in Albany for all of his hard work out on the field, the track, and in the community. Friends and family gathered at the Albany Civic Center for Mayor Dorothy Hubbard and Chairman of County Commission, Jeff Sinyard who signed off to make the proclamation official.
Lockette, a Monroe Tornado graduate played college football at Fort Valley State University before becoming a Super Bowl Champion for the Seattle Seahawks.
Lockette said, "This is a great day and I am truly thankful for everyone in my life that has help make this possible."
It was a day of celebration and smiles for the Albany area community. After all the speeches wrapped up everyone gathered around Lockette for pictures and autographs.
